Congratulations to Ron Jaworski Golf (RJG) and Henry A. Davidsen who just completed a very successful suit drive supporting Menzfit. Together they donated almost 800 pieces for unemployed men in Philadelphia.
The picture in the center is just one person who they helped dress.

We are very excited to announce Children’s Scholarship Fund as our Charity Spotlight for the June 10th BCA Hospitality Breakfast. Thanks to Bob Kane of First Niagara for recommending this amazing organization.
Children’s Scholarship Fund Philadelphia (CSFP) is a privately-funded program whose mission is to provide children from low-income Philadelphia families with financial access to quality, safe, K-8th grade, tuition-based schools, thereby increasing their long-term economic and social success. CSFP grants need-based scholarships to children from low-income Philadelphia families, all of which are awarded by random lottery. CSFP currently serves 5,400 children enrolled at over 165 private and parochial schools.
Make sure to check out the amazing work the Children’s Scholarship Fund is doing in Philadelphia, http://www.csfphiladelphia.org. Lets make sure to give them warm BCA welcome at our June Breakfast.
Thanks to everyone who attended the FMI Direct Marketing Solutions Roundtable yesterday. Lisa, Mike, Steve and Eric, you sure know how to host a party and take advantage of the beautiful day. The BBQ was perfect and you made ‘superheroes out of all of us with your presentation on FMI’s capabilities. FMI gave us a tour of their grand facility which was eye opening for those who had no idea of their fantastic capabilities.
- Research your prospects thoroughly and come ready with solutions to their problems
- Highlight the quantifiable benefits of your offerings rather than just the features
- Do more ‘showing’ than ‘telling’
- Listen more and let the prospect feel heard
BCA is excited to announce the June 10th Hospitality Breakfast guest speaker, Founder of Room to Read, John Wood. John Wood is the founder and board cochair of Room to Read, an organization that seeks to transform the lives of millions of children in developing countries by focusing on literacy and gender equality in education. At age 35, Wood left an executive career track at Microsoft to form Room to Read. The business acumen honed there, combined with his passion to change the world, makes Wood a unique and inspiring speaker with universal appeal.
Wood’s award-winning memoir, Leaving Microsoft to Change the World: An Entrepreneur’s Odyssey to Educate the World’s Children, tells how he raised over $200 million from a “standing start” to develop one of the fastest-growing nonprofits in history. The book was described by Publishers’ Weekly in a starred review as “an infectiously inspiring read.” Translated into 20 languages, it is popular with entrepreneurs, philanthropists, and educators alike, and was selected by Amazon.com as one of the Top Ten Business Narratives of 2006 and voted a Top Ten Nonfiction title of 2006 by Hudson Booksellers. The book was also featured during Wood’s appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show and the resulting “Oprahs Book Drive” with Room to Read raised over $3 million from viewers.
Wood’s latest book is entitled Creating Room to Read: A Story of Hope in the Battle for Global Literacy. This sequel tells the story of how the organization has successfully tackled next steps–including “scaling beyond my wildest dreams” while maintaining integrity and raising money in a collapsing economy. Kirkus Reviews calls it “an absorbing personal account of a remarkable achievement.”
Today, Wood focuses full-time on long-term strategy, capital acquisition, public speaking, and media opportunities for the organization. Wood also teaches at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and New York Universitys Stern School of Business and serves on the Advisory Board of the Clinton Global Initiative.
Such an great night celebrating an amazing friend and the amazing restaurant Cuba Libre Restaurant and Rum Bar… Larry we love you!
Thank you so much to American Executive Centers for hosting today’s BCA Roundtable. Notes were feverishly being jotted down, as the BCA members in attendance discussed what they’ve done differently this year to gain new business. The comments were wide ranging and all valuable in their own way. Where is often no replacement for learning first hand from peers who share similar struggles, and today was no exception.
We also got to learn a lot more about the extremely robust services American Executive Centers provides, from full time private space, temporary offices, virtual offices to a full suite of administrative and back office support. The group even got a tour “behind the scenes” to see just how American Executive Centers does it. The tour includes a stop at one of the offices that is very on trend right now… An office featuring Treadmill desk. Our own Paul Becker from DDP Roofing just had to take test it out.
Thank you for sharing your morning with us. James Kane shared great insight on how to attain loyalty. Remember the potential for loyalty is always there as long as you don’t confuse loyalty with satisfaction. Click here to view James Kane’s Read the rest of this entry »
A big Thank You to Brandon and Heather Steiger for helping “Get Our Creative Juices Flowing” and sharing their great talents with us at the Synergema Roundtable on Wednesday. The Thinking Putty and lunch boxes were a huge hit. Everyone took away something valuable from the discussion on how to inspire experiences and help move the needle. From Dream Boards to War Rooms to going off the grid…everyone has a different ways to ‘get creative’ and the application of creativity is universal in everything we do. One of the best take aways was, “find 5 things you can’t do and find ways to do them”.

A big thank you also to Ryan Dugan, of AEC, for being our mystery guest and giving tours of his great facility.
